Hugo and Jekyll build plain HTML, so the published site cannot handle form submissions itself.
Put your Letterbox form link in the site configuration once, then use it in menus, layouts or pages.
Set it up
-
Create your form
Sign up for free, add your email address as a recipient and create a contact form.
-
Copy its link
Your profile shows each form's link. It looks like this, and Pro and higher tiers can give it a custom name:
https://ltrbx.contact/your-form-id -
Add it to your site
Hugo
Add a menu entry to hugo.toml (config.toml on older sites). Most themes show it in the main menu:
TOML [[menus.main]] name = "Contact us" url = "https://ltrbx.contact/your-form-id" weight = 50Or link to it from any content page:
Markdown [Contact us](https://ltrbx.contact/your-form-id)Jekyll
Add the link to _config.yml:
YAML contact_form: https://ltrbx.contact/your-form-idThen use it in a layout or include, such as _includes/footer.html:
Liquid <a href="{{ site.contact_form }}">Contact us</a> -
Send a test message
Publish your site, open the link and send yourself a message. It is delivered to your recipient email address.
Good to know
- Your email address never appears in your site's code. Visitors only see the form.
- Spam filtering is built in on every tier.
- Letterbox hosts the form page. It does not yet accept submissions from form markup on your own pages, and file attachments are not supported.
- The Free tier includes 2 forms, 1 recipient and 5 messages a week. Compare plans
